GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SCIENTIFIC PROPOSALS

• Submit your scientific proposals via the submission platform making sure to include the organiser details, the recommended speakers, and a brief presentation for the proposal.
• Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

1. 1. Scientific excellence of the proposed individual talks and the session overall.
   2. Relevance of the topic of the Symposium to the overall theme of ICT XVI.
   3. Balance of the scientific content with respect to the utility and relevance of the information presented for improving human and environmental health in countries with both robust and developing research and regulatory enterprises.
   4. Speaker diversity with respect to the geographical area represented, gender, and sector (government, industry, academia, other).
   5. Availability of support for speaker travel to ICT XVI. [This criterion is not a requirement, but a strong encouragement.]

• The Congress Organization strongly encourages interaction between Academia-Industry-Regulators and interdisciplinary approaches (basic research, clinical/epidemiological, regulation) therefore we ask that you make every effort to include speakers from all mentioned organizations.

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES FOR SCIENTIFIC PROPOSALS

SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS:
Aims to be topical or cutting-edge scientific knowledge exchange with experts in the area presenting data from their research and answering questions from the audience. A Chair and a Co-Chair should be included.

• Should last a total of 120 minutes and have a maximum of 4 speakers setup as a workshop or symposium.
• The first speaker should set the scene for the symposium by explaining briefly the background to the topic before presenting his/her data.
• Presentations should be 25 minutes with 5 minutes for questions for a total of 30 minutes per speaker.
• Proposal for 60 minute round table sessions will also be considered.

CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE (CEC):
An educational session with 3-4 experts on a particular topic presenting a balanced view of established principles. Proposers/Chairs should ensure they work with individual speakers to achieve balance and prevent topic overlap. Scheduled Sunday, September 18 from either 9h00 to 12h00 or from 13h – 16h00. A full day format including coffee and lunch breaks may be proposed.
Please note: All fields of toxicology are welcome as topics for a CEC, except Regulatory Toxicology and Immunotoxicology.

Workshop goals
ISES Europe 2019 aims at finalizing all steps and key actions for creating a European Exposure Science Strategy by 2020 with an implementation roadmap and goals for 2020-2030.
ISES Europe 2019 has 3 goals:
1. Finalise the 6 thematic action plans as input to complete the European Exposure Science Strategy
2. Define ISES Europe working group actions plans and roadmaps for several exposure sub-themes
3. Discuss strategy implementation and way forward for ISES Europe to support European policy & research agendas

 The focus of World No Tobacco Day 2019 is on "tobacco and lung health." The campaign will increase awareness on:

• the negative impact that tobacco has on people’s lung health, from cancer to chronic respiratory disease,

• the fundamental role lungs play for the health and well-being of all people.

 The campaign also serves as a call to action, advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption and engaging stakeholders across multiple sectors in the fight for tobacco control.

The responsibilities of the Discovery toxicologist/Study Director- Senior Scientist include a.o.
• Design of early toxicological studies, integrated scientific data interpretation and close collaboration with preclinical representatives.
• Study director of in vivo and/or in vitro studies in support of pre-clinical late discovery/early development projects.
• Work in a multi-disciplinary team within PD&S, and depending on skills and experience, also within the discovery organization, representing PD&S.
• Provide strong scientific input with regard to potential mechanisms of toxicity in molecular pathways and propose appropriate follow-up. Maintain up-to-date knowledge with regard to innovative approaches in (predictive) toxicological research.
• Possess skills to lead study teams with contributions from various functional area’s.

De functie in het kort:

De GHOR is de geneeskundige hulpverleningsorganisatie in de regio, belast met de coördinatie, aansturing en regie van de geneeskundige hulpverlening en met de advisering van andere overheden en organisaties op het gebied van de opgeschaalde hulpverlening.  Het risicoprofiel van de regio Rotterdam-Rijnmond vraagt daarbij ook specifieke en specialistische aandacht van de GHOR voor incidenten met gevaarlijke stoffen.

Als beleidsadviseur risicobeoordeling houd je je met diverse onderwerpen bezig op het snijvlak van gezondheid en gevaarlijke stoffen (CBRN). Je signaleert hiertoe trends en pikt signalen uit binnen- en buitenland op en weet deze naar beleid te vertalen. Je weet verbinding te leggen tussen diverse stakeholders en kan goed omgaan met tegengestelde belangen. Ook vervul je een 24/7 piketrol als Gezondheidskundig Adviseur Gevaarlijke Stoffen, die als deskundige wordt ingezet in de acute fase van ongevallen met (vermoedelijk) gevaarlijke stoffen waarbij (potentieel of feitelijk) sprake is van blootstelling van mens en dier aan gevaarlijke stoffen en mogelijk acute zorg nodig is.
