Our research is focused on molecular-driven, mechanistic techniques in food and environmental toxicology. On the basis of mechanistic understanding, relevant toxicological processes are translated into risk analyses for evaluation in human health and ecological processes. The Division of Toxicology actively contributes to globally relevant topics, such as: alternatives to animal testing, human stem cell models, safety evaluation of food ingredients, biocides, nanotoxicology, contaminants in the food chain; in silico methods for toxicological risk assessment. Our education is embedded in the BSc/MSc programmes for Food Safety, Nutrition and Health, Molecular Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Biology and a combination of lectures and practicals.

The Agrotechnology & Food Sciences Group is part of Wageningen University & Research, an organisation that brings together fundamental and applied scientific research.
