The section Pharmaceutical Toxicology was founded on the anniversary annual meeting of the Dutch Society of Toxicology on June 18th, 2009. The section is also part of the Federation for Innovative Drug Research Netherlands (FIGON).<\/p>\n

Objectives of the Pharmaceutical toxicology section:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To promote and coordinate scientific activities in the field of pharmaceutical toxicology in the broadest sense, to include amongst others cellular and systemic mechanisms of toxicity, pharmaco \/ toxicokinetics, biotransformation, risk extrapolation to human \/ animal and pharmacovigilance.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. To promote the contact between all researchers in the Netherlands that are involved in the investigation of harmful effects and safety of medicines.<\/li>\n
  3. Stimulating collaboration between toxicology researchers in pharmaceutical science both at universities, research institutions, hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry.<\/li>\n
  4. Promoting the safety of medicines by contributing to the debate on improving the prediction from in vitro and animal studies, as well as database research, and help reduce animal testing in pharmaceutical toxicology research.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    For this purpose, the section will undertake the following activities:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • organizing scientific meetings<\/li>\n
    • providing a dedicated POT\/PET course on the topic of Pharmaceutical Toxicology (1st edition June 2024)<\/li>\n
    • contributing to the FIGON\u00a0Dutch Medicine Days<\/li>\n
    • liaising with scientists working in pharmaceutical toxicology<\/li>\n
    • contributing to courses within the field<\/li>\n
    • liaising with other scientific societies<\/li>\n
    • providing ad hoc<\/em> contributions regarding relevant topics (via TCDD)\/ responding to current topics in the field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
